Problems nations face today are of unprecedented complexity and scale. In government sectors to identify threats, in financial sectors to detect fraud, in e-commerce sectors to provide contextual services, in biology sectors to discover new medicines from genome data, the problems we try to solve with computers are too complex to do with traditional tools. We need the power of Lisp dynamic objects to cope with the complexity. We also need the new software component architecture, the Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Web Services (WS) to dynamically compose software applications and to programmatically access up-to-minute information and services from other applications anywhere in the world. In this talk, We will detail the reasons why we need to embrace Lisp dynamic objects and SOA WS today, and why dynamic objects and SOA WS are an ideal combination together. The talk concludes by demonstrating some new Lisp tools for addressing software complexity and for SOA WS programming.
