Free Webinar: Generate SPARQL visually using Sentient and
AllegroGraph
Thursday, April 15 - 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM PDT
This Webinar will introduce attendees to the Sentient Tool Suite
from IO Informatics as well as provide an overview of current
developments with AllegroGraph. Franz and IO Informatics have
recently completed a successful project at a Fortune 50 company and in
the process have integrated their respective technologies to bring
users a scalable platform for new knowledge discovery.
Attendees will learn how to explore RDF data by generating SPARQL
queries visually using Sentient and AllegroGraph. We will cover best
practices along with demonstrations using several example data
sets. In addition, we will demonstrate incorporation and exploration
of Linked Open Data to augment your existing datasets.

GenomeWeb article - AllegroGraph Project at Pfizer
Pfizer has partnered with Franz and IO Informatics to rapidly develop and deploy a proof-of-concept system for integrating drug discovery data, intending to serve as a "real-world example" of semantic technology in the pharma setting. The project was expected to take 6 months but was actually delivered in 6 weeks. This article, published on Genomeweb, discusses how the application builds bridges between data resources.

________________________________________________________________ Extended Semantic Web Conference (ESWC2010), 5/30-6/3, Greece
The mission of the Extended Semantic Web Conference (ESWC 2010) is to bring together researchers and practitioners dealing with different aspects of semantics on the Web. ESWC2010 builds on the success of the former European Semantic Web Conference series, but seeks to extend its focus by engaging with other communities within and outside Information and Communication Technology, in which semantics can play an important role. The conference will take place on Crete, Greece, in the Royal Knossos Village.

________________________________________________________________ IEEE 2010 Summer School on Semantic Computing, 7/25-31, Berkeley Semantic Computing is a rapidly evolving research field that integrates representation, methods, and techniques from areas as diverse as multimedia, computational linguistics, semantic web, knowledge engineering, software engineering, with the goal of creating novel technologies and applications that connect intuitively formulated user intentions with the content and meaning of machine-represented data. The IEEE Summer School on Semantic Computing provides an introduction to this interdisciplinary field to senior undergraduate and graduate students. Franz will be conducting a tutorial and delivering a keynote talk.
