1. A new macro: excl:ensuring-compiled-body

The new macro ensuring-compiled-body works like progn in that it
executes forms sequentially, returning the result of the final
form. But it first ensures the forms are compiled. Making sure the
forms are compiled in the correct environment is not a trivial
problem. In this tech corner article, we describe how that is
achieved.

2. Franz Inc.'s github repository

Franz maintains a github repository and makes available software
associated with Franz products, general Common Lisp programs, and
utilities (typically written in Common Lisp) like NFS for
Windows. Downloading software from a github repository is very easy if
you have git installed.

4. Free Webinar: Enhance Entity Extraction using an RDF Store

Wednesday, October 21, 2009 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM PDT

The presentation will demonstrate how to represent output from the
Cogito entity extractor in an AllegroGraph RDF database, and perform
reasoning along with SPARQL queries. We will show an example of
collecting 1000 articles scraping Google's news page, and process them
through Cogito to create RDF triples for use in AllegroGraph. The
presentation will discuss tips and techniques in dealing with these
representations, demonstrate how to relate entities to Linked Data
such as DBpedia (or other external sources), and finally we will
perform a number of queries on the resulting triple store data using
some straight forward inferencing.
